The Ultimate Missions for Revenge of the Sith comes with a book containing a variety of missions, a double sided map and some card cut out pieces.
There are 34 missions in the book, enough to keep busy. These generally follow the "Revenge of the Sith" film in sequential order and require either the ROTS or Clone Strike packs in order to play. Kudos to the author(s) for mostly using missions where the forces are unequal (by points value) but have cunning twists in mission objectives or special rules in order to balance the game. Although most missions are for two players, some are for three. Notes are also included if one were to include the missions as part of a larger campaign.
Aside from the missions, the book also contains additional rules, including equipment boosters (e.g. medipacks) and levelling up characters (re campaign missions). If you have the Star Wars RPG, stats are also given for some of the Separatist forces.
However, of the 34 missions there are several near repeats, offering slight variations on each other. For example, "The Jedi Betrayed" missions generally involve a single jedi versus some clone troopers. Or the various "Rescue Palpatine" related missions generally involve Ben Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker (and possibly R2D2) versus battle droids (and probably Mr Grevious itself), with similar mission objectives.
If you insist that each figure must be correctly represented and own more Star Wars miniatures than one can shake a light sabre at, fulfilling the scenario criteria will not be an issue. However, depending on the scenario, you either require a number of specific "very rare" miniatures and / or a larger number (10 - 12) of the same common miniature type (e.g. Clone Trooper). However, the authors have been sensible enough to offer points values for those deploying alternative forces.
Given the RRP of £19.99 I would have to say that this is not value for money. And not just because I'm feeling the pinch with my wife being on maternity leave. Ultimate Missions is a book with a couple of maps and some card cut-outs! Compare this to the "Attack on Endor" set which also contains a book with missions (albeit smaller), some models (in particular the AT-ST) and two game maps for a few pounds less than Ultimate Missions at IGUK's reduced price. Had I not got away with only paying 89p + p&p (damaged box!) I would have been very unhappy. I can't but look at my Starter Set (also cheaper) and then I look at Ultimate Missions and ask myself "why?". Sure, lots of missions, but they're the sort of things that people can post on the Internet (there's an idea - an IGUK repository of scenarios).
I do not think it would have hurt the publishers to have included at least a squad of clone troopers to bulk it up. And preferably some battle droids and a generic jedi figure. I'm not talking large or rare models, just typical cannon fodder used in larger quantities in some of the given missions. That or include a random mission with each booster pack.
In summary: on the light side of the force: Lots of mission ideas (4). New rules (4). On the dark side of the force: really pricey (-4). No miniatures included (-3). Rating 5 + 4 + 4 - 4 -3 = 6.
