This book, a sourcebook detailing the forces and influence of Chaos in the Old World, is a very useful resource for the new edition of WFRP.
It includes many useful sections, including a detailed history of chaos in the Old World, information on cults to the various gods in imperial cities (including eight new careers open to PCs who want to join these cults), information on beastmen (including random generation tables for herds, and new PC races), chaos magical items, mutation, spells and more.
All in all the book is a great addition to any GM who plans on using the forces of chaos as the main antagonists (and vital if you intend to use them as protagonsits) in a campaign. The book is sturdy, and well produced with all manner of disturbing illustrations of the verious sections. It's produced in a simmilar style to the core book, with occasional diversions into fiction, and a well documented index.
The only really annoying thing about the book, and the reason it gets a low score dispite it's utility, is that it appears to be very badly produced. There are numerous errors, from missing words, to repeated sections of sentances, to entire entries missing and replaced by a different one (e.g., the entry on 'bovigors' is identical to the entry on 'caprigors' below it). This is both frusrating when it prevents you from reading something that is quite important, and annoying in how easily it could be solved; simple proofreading would have got rid of all these issues. Whislt, potentially, it could have been deliberate on the part of the writers (it is a book on chaos, after all); the repition and omission of entire entries is just plain irritating.
All in all, a useful and interesting aid; but suffering heavily from errors in the type. Buy it if you want details on the forces of chaos, their cults and magics, and vastly improved mutation tables, but be aware of the books infuriating errors. I do hope an erratia comes out to provide the entires which are missing....
