This 158 page book is produced in the same format as the explorers edition of the main rulebook. It is packed with useful information for running a 'standard' d&d style fantasy game but it also serves as a good starting point if you are intending to create your own setting. The book is split into 5 sections. The first 'Characters' provides guidelines for creating characters based on the common fantasy races along with some new edges and some good tools for creating your own races. The section section 'Gear' gives new weapons and armor as well a guideline for sieges, ships and movement. The third section 'Arcana' give some new spells, some basic guidelines for gods and three new arcane backgrounds (alchemy, sorcery, and ritual magic). The bulk of the book is taken up with the last two sections, 'Treasure' which is fifty pages of magic items and treasure generation guidelines, and 'Bestiary' which is 50 pages of monsters along with guidance for creating your own.

All in all the quality is good. The book is trying to cover a lot of ground and it does this well. It biggest weakness is that it has to provide savage worlds versions of lots of standard fantasy elements so the amount of original creatures and items is limited. Another minor annoyance is that the book reprints the powers (spells) from the explorer's edition. This does put them all in one place but seemed like a waste of space. However if you use Savage world to run a fantasy game then this will save you a lot of work and is well worth the price.
