Galaxy Trucker

You work for Corporation Incorporated, the galactic leader in sewer system construction, as a trucker - but no ordinary trucker, a trucker in space! This job is not for the faint-hearted as you'll have to deal with asteroids, pirates and smugglers, and your ship is constructed from the parts that you're supposed to be delivering. Galaxy trucker is a game of two very different halves - building your ship by blindly grabbing component tiles (lasers, engines, shields, cargo holds, etc.) from the central warehouse and either adding them to your ship or placing them face-up for other players to take, and then facing random perils as you fly to your destination. Points are awarded based on how much ship/goods you have left when you reach your destination.

The building phase is really where the game is - chaotic and far from easy because players can choose to flip a sand-timer to put players under pressure to finish building quickly. The flying phase is more "sit back and see what happens", since most "decisions" are obvious. However, if you can see past the randomness, Galaxy Trucker is incredibly FUN. There are plenty of laughs as even the best-crafted ships get blown to smithereens (even if it's your own!). The components are absolutely top-notch, the artwork is really cool and the rule book is well laid out (and also pretty funny). The only downside to the game is the learning curve as an experienced player will always build a more robust ship and therefore usually beat a new player.
