You are a monarch, like your parents before you, a ruler of a small pleasant kingdom of rivers and evergreens. Unlike your parents, however, you have hopes and dreams! You want a bigger and more pleasant kingdom, with more rivers and a wider variety of trees. You want a Dominion! In all directions lie fiefs, freeholds, and feodums. All are small bits of land, controlled by petty lords and verging on anarchy. You will bring civilization to these people, uniting them under your banner. Players 2-4, Ages 10+

A quality game with high reply potential. Dominion uses a game engine that requires players to build their decks as they play the game. Choosing from a variable pool of ten decks (action cards) plus six fixed decks (cash & victory points), players use gold to purchase other cards with the aim of being the player with the most VP's when the game ends.

The game works well with two, three or four players (not tried five) and generally takes 45 to 90 minutes to play. The replayability comes from the ten variable action decks - you choose from many options which ten decks (each deck is 10 card of the same type) to use in a game. The rules come with five suggested combinations but you can mix and match how you please.

A nice touch is how victory cards hinder you through the game but are obviously needed to win. In game they do nothing but fill your hand with cards you cannot use - essential to win but annoying to hold!

Anyways, a recommended game! Much fun.

How can I sum up Dominion, well this is a fantastically crafted game which is easy to pick up but very difficult to master. It offers you the ability to build your deck from a subset of 10 decks of 10 cards which can be randomly selected from a possible 25 decks, it seems to offer infinite strategies depending on what decks of cards are placed out at the beginning of the game.
The game can be played with two to four players and will keep you amused for hours (I know it has for me), by randomly selecting what decks you are going to use before starting to play the game it means you have to think on the spot and build your strategy as you go along.
The game can be played online at BSW but I implore you to buy the set and play the game as it is fantastic and well worth it.

This is a highly addictive game with never a dull moment. You build your deck (your kingdom or dominion) by purchasing cards. These in turn provide you with the resources to purchase estate, duchy or province cards (= victory). How effectively your deck works depends on these card interacting. You only ever start a turn with 5 cards so flooding your deck early on with the victory cards limits your options. Lovely art on the cards and plenty of variation. Intelligent and highly entertaining game, +1 Buy I think!!!!

A beautifully elegant game. In Dominion each player is trying to build the best kingdom from a limited set of cards. The same cards are available to everyone so although the card used in any particular game change (adding massive variety), everyone's on an equal footing. The game plays fast as you can plan your turn before it begins, meaning games can be over in as little as 15 minutes or last up to maybe an hour. Also, as each turn only provides a few choices, the complexity is nicely hidden, meaning you generally avoid analysis paralysis. Hugely recommended.

This game is problaby the best one in my collection.
Everything is just perfect, basically no downtime, fast to learn and fast to play, a little bit of luck involve in drawing but just enough for the fun, lot of depth and infinite replaybility.
It's seems that it's quite expensive for just a bunch of cards, but it worth it any cents.
If you manage to get one box, you have to buy all the expansions available it will enhance even more the strategy.
This game is a must have, if you are an oldschool magic player like me but can't play anymore because of this expensive hobby, you will absolutely adore it, same feeling and same fun.

If you have ever drafted a CCG, you'll have a fair idea of what playing Dominion is like.

Each turn, players draw cards from their deck: some of which are 'currency' used to purchase a new card, some of which add abilities such as extra draws or extra purchases. The objective of the game is to collect 'victory point' cards but as these are otherwise useless, it becomes almost a game of chicken - trying to build the most efficient engine you can before going for the victory points at the last possible moment.

Though ostensibly non-interactive for the most part, the act of drafting, denying others resources and prioritising cards based on the group's behaviour all make the game 'social' as does reacting to the tempo set at the table.

You get a sense of ownership by the end of the game over the deck you've built and it has the advantage of being far faster than drafting and then playing an actual CCG.

The theme feels a bit superfluous but with mechanics like this I can't help hankering for more games.

Recently I had the opportunity to play Dominion with some good friends. It only took a couple of rounds to get into the flow of the game. Basically Dominion is a very simple game with rules that is easy to understand. When this is said the possibilities to create different games each time you play is huge. Just use a new combination of cards to set up the game and you have to use a new strategy to win. The flow is very fast and you don’t have to wait long before it’s your turn again. It’s not a brain dead game and you have to play the cards right while collecting a useful deck of cards. Dominion is fun and fast with a waste number of game combinations. A perfect board game to play if you just have a few hours or a whole day.
