Dixit

Dixit is one of those really simple and enjoyable games that makes you wonder why nobody thought of it before. At the start of the game everyone is given 6 beautifully illustrated cards and a set of number tiles. One player is chosen as the storyteller, picks one of their cards and describes it in no more than one sentence. The other players now pick one of their cards to be shuffled with the storyteller’s card. All the cards are then laid out on the table and everyone uses their numbered tiles to choose which one they think belongs to the storyteller.

This sounds simple, but the storyteller can only score points if some, but not all, of the other players pick the correct card. The storyteller therefore has to carefully craft a cunning description – subtle, but not too subtle is the key. It’s really nice to play a game that allows you to be really creative, be inventive, think a little differently and be lots of fun.
