Caylus is a great strategy board game. For 2-5 players, it's fun for different group sizes, and the best thing is that the game plays well even with just 2. The concept is to accumulate the most prestige points by helping to build the castle and by building certain structures along the castle road.
Unlike many boardgames, Caylus involves almost no luck - there are no dice or cards randomly shuffled. It all comes down to strategies and the vast array of options available to the player. This does not limit the game, and it has huge replayability. The only major downsides are that it can be quite a lot to get to grips with the first time you play, and game times can stretch on, especially when playing with more people and with new players (I've known games to go on for 4 hours plus!).

Caylus is an excellent board game themed around the building of a Castle in medieval France. It does take quite a while to play(1-2hours) as it is played over a number of phases. The game can be played with two to five players and is probably optimal with three or four. There are no dice, or any random factor within the game. Winning or losing is determined by the strategy and skill of the players.
The game is governed by a combination of workers, money, materials and buildings. All players are competing to build the King’s castle and win royal favours. Each player places a worker in turn on a square which represents a building or action. The placing of a worker costs money. Some buildings allow the player to create materials (required to make further buildings or to help with building the castle), others generate cash or allow the player to build or to gather victory points. Victory points (which determine the winner of the game) are gained by building the castle or by building other buildings or monuments.
If you like strategy games, then this is definitely one you should buy!
