In Granada, one of the most impressive building projects of the Middle Ages has begun: the construction of Alhambra. A palace, fortress, and a small city - all-in-one - Alhambra is made up of the world's most beautiful gardens, pavilions, chambers and towers.

Build the most splendorous Alhambra to be crowned the winner! In the middle ages, the Moors in Spain enjoyed the most advanced civilization in Europe that included beautiful palaces such as the famous Alhambra.

Players try to build their Alhambra to gain points. Tough choices come from having more choices than you can do in a turn. Alhambra is a tile playing game, but you have to buy them with money instead of the random drawing of many games. It's a popular game with enthusiastic reviews and prestigious awards.

Easy to play and quick to set up. A great game. You must build your own city with Gardens, towers, arcades and others. However, all these have to be purchased with one of the four currencies available, you may end up paying over the odds for a much needed part of your city. Points are tallied up 3 times in the game so a poor start may still see you win later. Probably best with 3-4 players as the more players you have the less strategy and the more luck there is involved.

Now this game is a real gem! I've played it with 6,5 and 4 people and it scales very well for any number it seems. The rules are quick and easy to learn but the strategy is pretty deep and requires a couple of games to get the hang of. The first few games are spent buying stuff more or less willy-nilly before one learns to keep track of how many buildings of a certain color are in play and what's good to focus on. The scoring system is very good, it really keeps the game interesting by not letting one player dominate the entire game. All the games I've played have been very close affairs.
