As a new incarnation of the popular Confrontation game this game offers a different perspective in the case of gameplay. Rackham have gone the same route as the increasingly favourable AT-43 in providing a starter box with the new range of pre-painted miniatures, the miniatures are sculpted fantastically and painted to a reasonably good standard, although hard core minature painters will be quick to provide these with more substantial detail wash and shading to give them justice. The extras are welcome and the rule book (again just a starter as a more indepth rule book is available) is glossy, well laid out, but at times the explanations and order it is laid out in, can be slightly confusing. Overall a good set.

I've not dabbled with an or Rackham's offerings before so I didn't really know what to expect here but I'm happy to say I'm very pleased with my purchase. For less than £40 this is a great set with loads of bits and pieces. Giving the new player all the tools he needs to get gaming straight out of the box is a great approach. You not only get miniatures and a rulebook as you might expect, but also a tape measure, dice, terrain maps and a terrain piece. You really can play straight out of the box which, in my own experience, is a first for a miniatures game!
Yes, I gather that Rackham did similar with AT-43 but I've not ventured there myself. Yet. Anyway...
The rules are clear and easy to follow. I think they've been tranlated from the original French and there are a couple of instances of odd syntax or unusual choice of word, but you'll catch the drift of it no problem.
My only criticism of this set is that the quality of the miniatures is not as high as you'll see on promotional photos. I half expeced that that would be the case anyway, so I'm not phased by it, but if you're expecting ultra-high level pro-paint qality miniatures, think again. Think Heroscape, and you'll be more than satisfied. And if you're into the whole painting hobby, you'll love how the little fellows are almost begging you to modify their paint jobs!
All in all, a good set with good, clear rules. I'd recommend it and I'm excited about the future of the range.
