    Tourney no. 3 - Transamerica

http://www.brettspielwelt.de/Spiele/TransAmerica/ - Check here for support on BSW

    First Prize - Incan Gold

Not played this before, but t looks like a fun/simple game to play. So all who want to join reply to the thread.

I will post up the roster after a couple of weeks, this one should run as standard 2 player games tillwe get to a final, then a multiple player game will determine the winner.

    Now to start practicing

    Re: Transamerica Tourney

Looks similar in layout to Railroad Tycoon but much simpler to play.

    I'm up for it.

Anyone got an idea how long it takes to play?

    Re: Transamerica Tourney

Played a few games with Dobbie today after work, its a pretty simple game of tile laying to connect your cities with railroad tracks.

We played one game that was made up of around 5-6 rounds in about 30 mins.

Its a very fast game to play, unless your deliberating in which time you may want to threaten with the black pawn ;-)

Players both start with 13 points, and you loose them in the rounds depending on how badly you played.

If anyone wants a trial game then mail me.

    Thanks

    Count,

Never played before either, but count me in too! After all, with a stunning first round defeat in my first tourney, my performance can only improve ... or flatline! At least it can't get any worse!

    Re: Transamerica Tourney

I'm in (seeing as I suggested it)

It's a quick game - should only take 15 to 20 on bsw irrespective of number of players - I'd recommend the tourament is structured with more than 2 players per game - 4,5,6 plays well.

No. of games will depend on total number of players - e.g. lets say we get 24 players, then we could have 4 games of 6 (always apply rule of "no show, no go") then top 3 from each go through - 12 players qualify for semis, and then 6 for the final.  Seven games in total.

With 2 players per game it's 12 games, then 6 games, then a final with 6 - or maybe 3 more games and a final with 3? - either way it's a lot of games - either 19 or 22 games, which from experience wil take a looonnggg time.

    Just a thought.

    Re: Transamerica Tourney

    Hi Count-

I'm in - although you should be aware that Transamerica really does not play well with two. I would suggest an absolute minimum of four. Anything less and it's dry and boring and, frankly, so random that you may as well roll a die for the winner.

(In fact I'm not sure that the boardgame claims to support two ? I have the sister game Trans Europa and that is 3-6 players. Again, you need four to make it a competition)

    Re: Transamerica Tourney

I think you guys are right, playing 2 player seemed very random. I played a couple of 3 player games last night and it seemed to make a bit more sense.

I really recommend people have a few plays of this before the tourney kicks off.

I will see how many players we have and work something out then.

Thanks for ptting up a prize again Steve, I can really recommend Incan Gold. Even my 3 year old loves it, although he never wants to leave the temple and just keeps on looking for treasure. Greedy little monkey, takes after his dad.

    Cheers
