    First Round Result

After a slightly false start in which we discovered that WhiteStone hadn't understood the rules, taking a slightly circuitous 12! for the first round, we concluded the first game as a practice and then got on with the serious business.

It was clear that there are two types of strategy, agoraphobic or gregarious, and ultimately both paid off with me, WhiteStone, and Milarkey thinking along similar lines and IanButty playing his own game on the other side of the board. WhiteStone showed that he had mastered the game by winning the last round of three which unfortunatley saw the demise of Milarkey.

    Final score:

    Colin9 (pikeman)   11

    Ian Butty                  6

    WhiteStone              6

    Milarkey                  0

Enjoyed the game and your company, guys. See you in the next round.

We still haven't heard from Mikedeaders yet? How long should we give him?

    Re: Transamerica Tourney

If you have sent him an email and not heard back, then count him out.

Mike, if you are reading this let them know if you are still playing.

    Thanks

    Harry Lime, Johnnyb & Jernau

Chaps - just a reminder that we are playing tomorrow at 9pm

I'll find a room on BSW and mark it invisible. When you come online you need to type

    /hook Steerpike

to come to the right games room. See you tomorrow.

    Re: Transamerica Tourney

Sure thing! Can we have a practice round first? I haven't had a chance to play it yet & it'd be good to have the opportunity to familiarise myself with the game interface.

    C ya! :0)

    Re: Transamerica Tourney

    Hi guys!

afraid something's come up with work & have to go deal with it. Will try & get back in time for game, but if I'm not there go ahead without me, as can't guarantee what time I'll be back at.

    Re: Transamerica Tourney

OK - the results of Group 1 are now in....

We waited for Johnnyb, and had a practice match in the meantime, but 40 minutes later it was still no show (but Harry and Jernau were feeling more comfortable with the game by then. Foolishly Steerpike had lost the element of surprise)

So, we played anyway. We'll leave the decision making on that one to Count Zero.

It was a tense one - but finally Steerpike reigned supreme as Jernau failed to capitalise on the advantage of drawing Portland in the final round.

    Steerpike 5

    Harry the Lime 4

    Jernau 0

    Johnnyb AWOL

    Cheers guys !

    Re: Transamerica Tourney

apologies chaps, no excuses, just failed to get there - I accept a straight knockout for failing to turn up.  I expect no less.  I would impose the same decision on others.

Gratz to Steerpike and Harry and good luck in the final.

I've been away all weekend but I'll send him a reminder now, see if he's still playing and if I haven't heard back by thursday (2 days) I'll count him out and we'll have to organise ASAP, when are you free Peter12 and Jabberwock? This week or next, I'm ok for all the time except tuesday 9pm both weeks.

    Re: Transamerica Tourney

This week I'm really busy - though I could possibly do Friday night. Next week is much better for me - Monday, Tuesday or Thursday evenings are all OK with me by evening I mean sometime after 18:00! Still haven't managed to play a game yet, so if you could look out for me at the appropriate time and have the technology to somehow haul me into a game, that would be splendid! I have no idea why I can't seem to play this when Carcassonne played no problems at all.

Obviously one of life's great mysteries!

Anyway, hope one or more of the above dates is OK,

    Pete
