    Re: Balloon Cup

Sorry Harry, there must have been some extra-heavy ballast in those first set of balloons ;)

Think I've accepted properly this time... honest!

    Re: Balloon Cup

Invites accepted, sir. Looking forward to the encounter.

    Ian Butty,

I've I think that I've narrowed Mr Hewitt down to 007, the amusingly named, Kruwethemerciless (my money's on this one) or possibly, Ballerina Girl (oo-er!). I'm sure that we will find out in the fullness of time. Or alternatively we can ask whoever played him in the last round. Who did play him in the last round?

I sent Mr H an email through the forum this earlier morning to try to find out who he is.  So if I get a reply I'll let you know.  His previous openent was none other than CZ himself.  Doesn't look good Count.... as far as we can tell you lost your round to a figment of your imagination!  GRIN!

    Regards,

    Ian.

    Yeah,

Neil is Kruwthe merciless, not a figment of my imagination at all but a hard player who could do Sir Branson out of a job in teh balloon dept.

    HtL v Jeff B.

    Result just in...
Game 1 - a close affair, with Harry just managing to get out of the gates slightly faster & just about keep his nose in front, claiming 2 Cups right at the end. (Harry wins 3:0)
Game 2 - Jeff comes out strong & looks to have victory in the bag, going 2-0 up early on. But in the greatest comeback since Lazarus, Harry takes all 3 remaining cups in one fell swoop! What a shocker!!! (Harry wins 3:2)
Game 3 - A real slow-burner, with the game well over the halfway point before Harry takes first blood, winning the grey cup. Jeff battles back manfully, and despite going 2 down, he manages to claim the yellow cup to keep himself in contention. In the final few moves of the game, however, Harry twists it round to claim the final 2 cups in one move. (Harry wins 4:1)

Harry wins 3 games to 0.

Thanx 4 the games Jeff - it really was tighter than the scoreline might suggest!

    Poozle - where are you?

    Peace

    HtL

No matter how much I would rather not admit it I feel that I should clarify, you actually beat me in all 3 matches, I didn't win any of them.

    Re: Balloon Cup

    Pikeman v Jeff

Games 1 & 2 were fairly unremarkable affairs with both going to Pikeman. Game 3 was quite extraordinary. 4 cubes remained (on the 4 cube card), Pikeman two cups in the bag, and two card spaces remaining, a grey card and a red card. Jeff was forced to play a high(ish) red (low score required to win the cubes) and all Pikeman had to do was play a moderate grey onto Jeff's side to win. Slight drawback, no grey. Change 4 cards, still no grey. Jeff swoops with a final move to conquer.

    Final result :- Pikeman 2 Jeff 1.

Well played Jeff. The last game has probably put paid to my continuing participation as it looks like I'm going down 3-0 to Kruwethemerciless, who it must be said, has been exactly that.

    Pikeman (0) v Kruwethemerciless (3)

And verily, it came to pass that Pikeman walketh into the brick wall known as Kruwethemerciless (or Neil Hewitt) who proceedeth to stuff the Pikeman right royally (slightly fortunate in the last game).

It is with drooping shoulders and heavy heart that Pikeman waves goodbye to this tournament and wishes the continuing participants luck in future rounds.

    Re: Balloon Cup

Well played Pikeman - a well-deserved winner. A shame if your advancement in this tournament was hampered by the "its-all-academic-results-wise-now" final game. I'm not too sure how many times an ending like that will be played out!

    Thanks again.

    Re: Balloon Cup

I was more miffed by the fact that it cost me 30 points and got me demoted! C'est la guerre!
