    Re: Online Carcassonne Tournament

First round 2 match played and it was a tough one.

    Count Zero vs Zhuzh

First game was a tie, 108 points each.

Tiles placed back in the virtual box ready for a rematch.....

    Second game

    Count Zero 103    Zhuzh 84

Well played Zhuzh, you had me on my toes for a good hour of play.

    Cheers

    IanButty 66 - 99 Harry the Lime

A 'bitty' affair, due to neither player really getting great tiles in the draw. Fatally, Ian failed to notice one of Harry's farmers.

    Thanx 4 the game Ian!

    Steerpike 96  Jonobe/Johnnyb 119

A couple of early breaks, and strong aggressive play, gives Jonobe an unassailable lead. Try as he might, Steerpike cannot close the gap and Jonobe romps home for a well deserved victory.

    Thanks for the game Johnny.

    Re: Online Carcassonne Tournament

.... it was a tense game with some tough decisions - and straight after that damned cricket match - too much stress for one evening.

I am holiday from now until 14th April - I assume round 3 will be the 4-way final - can we schedule that for 14th or 15th or later?

    Re: Online Carcassonne Tournament

    Milarky 80  Jernau 112

Another tense match - Milarky started farming right from the outset (his first tile if I recall correctly) - a few small cities cropped up early on but I managed to get a sizeable city in the top left which I kept all to myself through to completion. Milarky did start building a very large city near the bottom but I got lucky and was able to "share" just in time (although "stealing" was mentioned :-)  A couple of cloisters boosted the score and by the final bell, although Milarky had resoundingly won the farming, I'd built up enough of a lead to claim victory. Good games M, see you in the next tournament - whatever that is!

    Re: Online Carcassonne Tournament

I can make the 15th provided it's an evening match (anything after 7pm BST) - can't do the 14th as I'm off to Baycon. Failing that I'm good in the evenings on Mondays and Fridays.

    Re: Online Carcassonne Tournament

Well the results are in...and what a closely fought (and very tense) game it was!

The very first tile, laid by Harry The Lime, set a certain tone - instead of taking a quick and easy two points for a city, it's a farming strategy he goes for! Not to be outdone, the game quickly became a mad scramble for farming superiority with smaller 2, 6 and 8 point cities marking the boundaries. Luckily for me, I left them to their own devices on that one and concentrated on stealing/sharing as many cities as possible whenever tiles allowed - although I think we all had our fair share of road tiles throughout the game. Without going into too much detail, by the time the game was nearly done, Harry the Lime had a comfortable lead on the farming but hadn't scored enough points during the game to secure victory. Jonobe had scored well and but for the sake of "1 man" would have stolen the game with a Cloister. CountZero had suffered from an early bout of Roaditis and although he cleaned up on cloisters at the end game, it just wasn't enough. Jernau pipped it with a healthy bunch of incomplete cities.

    Final Scores

    • Jernau - 71
    • Jonobe - 65
    • Harry_The_Lime - 60
    • Countzero - 52

An excellent game gents, I thank you all.

A special thanks to CountZero for organising the whole show.

    Re: Online Carcassonne Tournament

Well played Jernau, it was a good game and I though Harry had it in the bag.

Just goes to show that farmers can't always win the game.
